Really simple way to document a memory

I’ve been doing something that I think is super easy and helps document the memories I want to remember.  If we go out for a meal and they offer cardboard coasters, I write the date, who was there, maybe why we were there if it was for a special occasion–anything I want to remember about the moment.

Right now I just toss these coasters into a small basket, but eventually I’m going to punch holes in the corner of each and put a large binder ring through the holes, creating a small, chunky book.

In the picture below you can see a square, black coaster the says “SanTan”.  This one’s really special because I was on a business trip to Phoenix where my Dad was staying and he drove many miles to have dinner with me.  Not nine months later, Dad passed away.

When I look at these coasters, I immediately recall the event.  I’m so glad I started doing this.  I encourage you to take on this activity yourself.  It’s simple, costs nothing and is a way of helping you develop a habit of documenting your life.
